II. Introduction
A. Peter Appleton
1. 1st movie written by him just released
2. has the girl
B. Investigation
1. fired in the time of the second red scare because attended a Communist meeting in college
2. gets drunk, drives and crashes landing in a river
C. Waking Up
1. wakes up on beach with dog licking him not remembering anything
2. owner of dog takes him into town to help him get cleaned off
3. is recognized as Luke by "father", thought dead due to War
D. Towns People
1. The word about Luke interests the town people and they go see him
2. Ex-fiance comes back from school around same time and goes to see if its Luke
3. Spiret of town comes back resulting in team work on restoration of movie theater
III. Rising Action
A. Adele Staton
1. Fiance before Luke was declared missing in action, Childhood girlfriend
2. Tries to help him start remembering by telling him of old stories and taking him to their favorite places
3. Starts falling back in love
B. Luke Trimble
1. Finishes fixing up theater (The Majestic)
2. Being spied on by the Government
- Kids on a beach found a car that turned out to be Harry's
- Government found Peter/Luke
C. Harry
1. While screening a movie has heart attack
2. Same time as Luke remembers in reality he is Peter not Luke
3. On death bed "Luke" calls Harry "father" right before he dies
D. The Arrest
1. Government sends people into town to hand Peter the Court Date Letter
2. The entire town watches as they call "Luke" Peter A.
3. Peter tells Adele how he remembered
- later tells the town that yes he is Peter not Luke
IV. Climax
A. Willingly
1. Peter goes back to Hollywood
2. Before leaving Lawson goes to cemetery to return Luke's mettle
3. At cemetery runs into Adele where she tries to convince Peter to fight for rights like Luke would of (end up fighting)
4. Before getting on train to Hollywood Adele's father hands him a book from Adele
B. Court
1. Inside the book there is a letter from Luke to Adele
2. Book is of laws, rights
3. Peter is told to read a list of names to Judge to "get his life back"
4. Last minute Peter changes his mind and fights for rights because of being so touched by Luke's letter and Adele's words
5. Makes fools out of Judges but becomes hero in the eyes of the people
V. Conclusion
A. Hollywood
1. Court decides to leave Peter alone about being Communist
B. Lawson
1. Peter decides he doesn't want to live in Hollywood anymore
2. Writes letter to Adele saying hes getting off train and if she isn't waiting for him he will get back on train a new town to live
3. The entire town is waiting for Peter at the stop
-they all heard/saw his speech during the trial about Luke and the other soldiers of Lawson
-Everyone liked Peter after speech
4. Gets married to Adele and has kids
