I am an African American
I wonder what lies ahead for Us
I hear their hurtful comments but don't respond
I see enraged faces
I want to no longer wait for my dream to be the reality
I am an African America
I pretend I'm not sacred
I feel pain, physically and emotionally
I need respect
I worry for the future generations
I cry a silent cry
I am an African American
I don't understand why we are hated so
I believe We are fighting for a worthy cause that Will effect change
I dream of equality
I try to not feel anger
I hope our voices will be heard
I am an African American
